Authentic Italian Delicacies: Cremini, Torrone & Crocante from California & Italy
Italian confectionery is among the richest and most specific in the world — a tradition spanning centuries, containing regional specialties with Protected Designation of Origin status, and representing some of the most technically sophisticated small-production confectionery still made anywhere. From the Cremini and Cremino layered chocolates of Turin — gianduja layered between milk and dark chocolate, made in the same way for over two centuries — to the Torrone of Cremona — slow-cooked honey and egg white nougat with whole toasted almonds still made by families producing it for generations — Italian confectionery represents a living tradition of craftsmanship that industrial production has not been able to replicate. Andy Anand’s Italian Delicacies collection brings the finest examples of this tradition to your door.
The collection is anchored by our Cremini selection — the layered gianduja chocolates that are the signature confection of Piedmont. Cremino in its classic form is a three-layer construction: thin dark chocolate on the outside, hazelnut gianduja in the middle, and a thin inner layer of white chocolate or coffee-flavored gianduja. The combination of dark chocolate’s slight bitterness, the sweet roasted-hazelnut depth of gianduja, and the contrasting inner layer produces a complex, multi-stage tasting experience that changes as you eat through the piece. We import our Cremini directly from Italian producers who still make them using the original recipe and the specific Piedmontese hazelnuts that define the flavor.
Our Italian Torrone — traditional honey-and-almond nougat — represents the other great pillar of our Italian collection. Italian Torrone at its best is dry, firm, sliced into neat segments from long bars, with whole toasted almonds and pistachios embedded throughout a honey-and-egg-white matrix cooked to precise temperature and beaten to correct aeration. We carry both soft Torrone (yielding and chewy at room temperature) and hard Torrone (dry, brittle, intensely sweet), both imported from Cremona-region producers where Torrone production has been centered for centuries. Traditional Torrone is made from honey, egg white, almonds, and sugar — naturally gluten-free and simple in the best way.
Beyond Cremini and Torrone, our Italian collection includes crocante (caramelized hazelnuts and almonds in a harder, more intensely caramelized form than American brittle), Amaretti cookies in both soft and crisp versions made with bitter almond paste in the traditional way, and seasonal specials that follow the Italian confectionery calendar: Panettone in December, special Easter formats in spring. All products are imported from Italian producers whose quality we have reviewed and selected — no Italian-labeled products made outside Italy.
Every product ships from our Chino, California facility. Hard confections ship at ambient temperature; chocolate-based Italian confections ship with cold-pack protection. No artificial preservatives. For anyone who loves genuinely excellent Italian food and wants access to the Italian confectionery tradition at its finest — this collection is your source.
