Are you limiting yourself on sugar? And you’re craving for chocolates right now? Well, I have the perfect solution for that. Have you ever heard of sugar-free chocolate? Sugar-free chocolate are chocolates that use sugar alcohol as alternative for real sugar. Sugar alcohols are white and water-soluble solids that occur naturally, it still contains sugar, but not as much like real sugars. I know what you’re thinking, if its sugar-free chocolate, will it still be sweet. The answer to that is yes, even though sugar alcohols only have a minimal amount of sugar, sugar-free chocolate also has a sweet flavor just like regular old sugar. But since its sugar-free chocolate, is it worry-free too?
Apparently sugar-free chocolate are better than milk and white chocolates, because not only that it has less sugar content, it is also low on calories. Another nutrient present in sugar-free chocolate is iron. Iron can help preserve many vital functions in the body, like gastrointestinal process, energy and focus, regulation of body temperature, and of course, the immune system. The element magnesium is also a nutrient in sugar-free chocolate. Magnesium can lessen the cases of anxiety, premenstrual syndrome or PMS, migraines, and type 2 diabetes. It can also strengthen our cardiovascular and bone health.
Sugar-free chocolate doesn’t mean fat-free either. As we know, normally, most sugar-free chocolate have cocoa butter, and cocoa butter is high in saturated fat. Saturated fat is a type of dietary fat; it is one of the unhealthiest fats along with trans fat. Now we know, sugar-free chocolate doesn’t literally mean worry-free too. Even if it is offering a lot of benefits to you, you still should be conscious of what you’re eating especially if you’re in a serious illness or disorder. For me, I think sugar-free chocolate is the best type of chocolate among all chocolates; it’s the best sugar-free chocolate to have when we’re speaking of a healthy lifestyle, but as everyone else always says, we shouldn’t have too many of it even if sugar-free chocolate is the healthiest chocolate we have now, those little amount of sugars can build a gigantic pile of sugar if you eat a lot of it. Just enjoy life with moderation.
